What are flat sheets used for?

Properties and sizes of the bamboo flat sheets
The bamboo bedding is made entirely of bamboo rayon 250TC.
Our bamboo flat sheets are available in eight colours and three sizes to fit all types of beds and needs, from single, double to king size. Please note all the flat sheets also have a 5 cm hemstitching:

Our bamboo flat sheets are ultra-soft and guarantee a royal sleep. Soft bedding is regularly made from fabrics with a high thread count (TC), the number of threads in a square inch of fabric. However, this is not always the case. Because of bamboo's threads' unique structure and content, its fibre is inherently very soft, even with a low thread count.
A cotton thread count of 400 or 1000, for example, will feel like a bamboo rayon thread count of 250 or 350. As bamboo yarns are finer and considerably softer than cotton yarns; there is a massive difference in TC and comfort between the two. For example, a bamboo fabric with a TC of 250 will be significantly softer than the best Egyptian cotton.

What impact does cotton have on the environment?
Cotton, especially monoculture cotton, takes a lot of water and chemicals to thrive. According to the WWF, it takes around 15,000 litres of water to produce one kilogram of cotton. In comparison, one kilogram of bamboo requires only 2,150 litres of water.
These cotton monocultures account for 2.5% of the world's agricultural area and require the use of between 16% and 25% of insecticides. These pesticides, fertilisers, and other harmful compounds affect workers' health and degrade the soil. Every year, the earth gets more sterile, necessitating more hazardous fertilisers, creating a vicious spiral.
Cotton is frequently mixed with plastic, polyester for softness and resistance. At the same time, bamboo rayon is 100% natural, soft and is a resistant material.

Is a flat sheet mandatory?
No, the flat sheet is not mandatory. It’s a perfect add-on for extra warmth during cold nights and allows you to, in the opposite situation, to dispose of your duvet cover and have a soft blanket to keep cool.
How often should I clean my flat sheet?
We advise cleaning the flat bed sheet at least once per week at 30°C with a gentle cycle. Find more information on your digital user manual.
What size to choose for my single, double, or king-size bed?
The flat sheets should cover the whole bed. You will find here below a table of the preferred size according to your bed size:
- Single sized bed 90 x 190cm = 180 x 290 cm flat sheet
- Double sized bed 140 x 190 cm = 240 x 290 cm flat sheet
- European King size bed 160 x 200 cm = 270 x 290 cm flat sheet
What dyes and techniques are used to colour the bamboo rayon?
The bamboo fabric is dyed with reactive dyes, a series of brightly coloured organic compounds. Reactive dyes are environmentally friendly because they do not contain heavy metals or other toxic substances and do not require mordants. They "react" with the bamboo fibres, resulting in more intense and durable colour.
Reactive dyes create a chemical bond between the dye molecule and the bamboo fibre. As a result, the pigment becomes an integral part of the bamboo fibre. It is much less likely to be washed away than dyes that adhere thanks to adsorption.

Yes. Bambaw's flat sheets all have a 5 cm hemstitch.
What is the difference between a fitted sheet and a flat sheet?
The fitted sheet is helpful to protect your mattress. It has corners, or elastics, to fit and hold correctly to your mattress. Using a fitted sheet allows you to clean only the fitted and not the bed itself, which you may find a lot more complicated.
On the other hand, the flat sheet is purely decorative. It simply adds a layer of softness between your skin and your duvet cover. The flat sheet does not have corners which makes it easier to clean and iron. Overall, it makes your bed looks cosier and guarantees an excellent sleeping experience.
How to keep my flat sheet tucked in?
It is indeed possible to tuck a flat sheet securely on the bed. The easiest way to ensure your flat bamboo sheet remains in place throughout the whole night is to create the right fold under and on the sides of your bed. We suggest you have a look at tutorials online to see how it’s done.
Otherwise, here is a step-by-step explanation:
- 1. First, place your fitted sheet on your mattress.
- 2. Then drape your flat sheet over your bed, the 5 cm hemstitching facing towards where your head would lean, and then spread out all three sides (two from the sides of the bed and one at the feet), so they are hanging evenly.
- 3. Tuck in the sheet for about 10-15 cm to the foot of your bed if possible.
- 4. Then go around one corner, grab the part of the flat sheet that hasn't been tucked in yet, and fold it back on the top of your mattress by creating an angle of 45°.
- 5. Take the part of the flat sheet still hanging on the side and tuck it under the mattress. Then simply grab the top corner of the 45° angle you created on the top of your bed and bring it back towards the ground. Create a smooth line by helping yourself with your other hand. Tuck it under the mattress.
- 6. Continue to tuck in the rest of the side of the bed you have made the angle on. Then move to the next corner and repeat the same steps.
- 7. Enjoy your freshly made bed 😊.
What are the washing instructions for bamboo bed sheets?
Wash your bamboo bed linens at 30 degrees Celsius and avoid using fabric softener. It would be best not to bleach them since it may harm the fiber; instead, use baking soda. It is best to hang the linens to dry. Iron them in a medium setting. Find more tips and tricks via the digital user manual.
